Top 10 Things do in Forster during your Spring Break.

  1. Local Markets. Forster and the towns that surround it have amazing local and rural markets. Most weekends you will be able to stroll through one of the many different types, such as Forster Town and Farmers Markets, Pacific Palms Markets, Old Bar Markets, Tuncurry Markets and many more.
  2. Devils Ark. If you are interested in the conservation of the Tasmanian devil we have the largest conservation breeding program for the on mainland Australia right at our door step in Barrington Tops. Devil Ark’s “Devils in the Wild” tours are available monthly throughout the year and is a scenic 2 hr drive from Forster. Bookings are essential through the Devils Ark website.
  3. Hamiltons Oysters. Live music is played every Sunday on the deck over looking Wallis lake, a definite must for a lazy spring afternoon. November 22nd & 23rd Hamiltons Oysters will be holding their annual Wallis Lake Oyster & Craft Beer Festival. This year they will have an array of local craft brewers & live music all day. Also you will see the return of the oyster eating competition & kids entertainment to keep the little ones busy. It will be a weekend of fun for the whole family.
  4. Ellenborough falls. If you are a lover of the great outdoors and enjoy a drive, Ellenborough falls is a must. Located on the Bulga Plateau at Elands, one and half hour’s drive north-west of Forster on Tourist Drive 8, the falls are a spectacular site. At 200 metres, it is one of the longest single drop waterfalls in the Southern Hemisphere. Take a picnic and enjoy the timbered walkway (641 steps) to the bottom of the falls, complete with rest spots, providing a comfortable 30 minute walk. There is also a 10 minute walk to The Knoll which has magnificent views looking directly across to the falls. 
  5. Lakeside Music Festival. Forster/Tuncurry’s very own music Festival is an awesome annual event that keeps growing bigger every year. This year will be huge, with an Aussie music legend headlining – The Black Sorrows. If you are a music lover or even a food lover the Lakeside Music Festival is for you, awesome food stalls great entertainment and bring the kids theres plenty of things for them as well. Saturday 4th November.
  6.  Lazy Paddle Tour. If you love the water but its still to cold for you take a dip why not try a lazy paddle on the Myall River. Only an 1hr up the road to Tea Gardens, the Lazy Paddle Tours is a fun day out for the whole family. Experience the tranquility of the mangroves, learn about the river’s history and observe wildlife up close. Keep a lookout for eagles and dolphins as you glide leisurely along. There tours are either 2 hours or a half day and are suitable for beginners.
  7. Old Bar Beach Festival. Held on the October Long weekend each year this event has live music, classic cars, mega markets, Kombi display, food stalls and a range of carnival rides for the kids. Old bar is a short 30 minute drive north of Forster this festival is a great weekend for the whole family to enjoy. 
  8. Hannam Vale Open Garden Day. Spring has sprung and what a great way to see the amazing gardens of Hannam vale than their annual open garden day. They have a collection of private country gardens open for just six hours on Sunday 22 October for you to visit at your leisure. Nestled in the Stewarts River valley in the heart of The Three Brother region and only a 50 minute drive from Forster Hannam Vale offers you a delightful day out.
  9. Bicentennial Walk. Don’t want to take the car out we have a wonderful walking track that begins at the ocean baths at Forster Main Beach and takes you along our beautiful coast line. You can start with a morning coffee at Beach Bums cafe and come full circle and enjoy a lovely lunch in Forster’s Main Street at one of the many restaurants and cafes. 
  10. Bulahdelah Hill Climb. The famous Bulahdelah Hill climb is on again this Spring, Sunday 24th September. The event claims the fastest public road hill climb in the country and opens the doors to the general Motorsport community. Free Entry for all spectators, Great viewing areas with over 50 cars lining up ready to roll. Bulahdelah is a 50 minute scenic drive from Forster.

We are gearing up for the Elite Energy Forster Triathlon which gets underway on Saturday. This weekend is jam packed full of activities, adrenaline and excitement! Bring it on! Although some roads are closed, this small inconvenience is a small price to pay for such a great event for the town.

Having A Whale Of A Time

The weather is beautiful and the whales are playing in our calm waters. Our guests have been watching them from their balconies!

Guests have also been enjoying watching the whales from the Amaroo boat (our local whale/dolphin watching cruise) and the whales have been putting on a magnificent display.
